2017 Beauty Trends for Christmas and the New Year

Posted on December 06, 2016

Although Fashion Week was over a month ago, it’s captivating colours and show stopping designs have continued to inspire fashion goers as we head into the Christmas season. The Spring/Summer 2017 shows enthralled us with their bold statements of shimmer and brightness. From the overload of glitter from Fendi to the 80’s inspiration of Kenzo, we have seen some of the most influential beauty trends that will certainly be incorporated into the beauty domain. Here are some of the ultimate beauty trends from the spring/summer 2017 shows.

Retro Glam Makeup Look

The 80’s melodramatic retro looks have made a comeback revealing that there is certainly no holding back when it comes to style. Brightly coloured blush were used at Kenzo and Chanel, and metallic eye makeup and sparkly pigments were seen across some of the most influential shows including Marc Jacobs and Nina Ricci.

The Smudgey Eye Makeup Look

Forget perfecting your winged eyeliner, the season is all about effortless eye makeup. From the favourites such as Balmain and Altuzarra, smudged black eyeliner was used around the eyes finished with either soft eyeshadows or metallic pigments.

‘No Makeup’ Makeup Look

And lastly, a recurring trend that was seen not only in the spring/summer 2017 shows but also on celebrity social media (Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian), the ‘no makeup’ makeup look is quickly becoming the latest go to. Balenciaga, Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler revealed models wearing the absolute bare minimum, covering only marks and blemishes (yes…. Models do have imperfections). And to all you ladies who end up in a rush to work or uni, in 2017 you can safely say that the bare makeup look is an aspirational trend.
