Lash Love: Extensions or Falsies

Posted on June 28, 2018

Ladies, have you been wearing false lashes and wondering whether or not you should start getting eyelash extensions instead? Or have you been asked for advice on what is better? To lash extend or simply stick has probably been a question that you’ve thought about yourself. So here is a little insight into both for you.

Eyelash Extensions

Beauty Benefit 1: Eyelash extensions are so easy! Forget all that fuss in the morning. You don’t have to waste that extra ten minutes gluing on your lashes or even that extra three minutes, applying mascara. You can simply roll out of bed looking absolutely fabulous with your lash extensions, after enjoying those few extra minutes you got to sleep in. Your partner will be wondering how you manage to look so good in the mornings.

Beauty Benefit 2: Eyelash extensions are so lightweight that you don’t even realise they’re there. You can flutter and roll your eyes still without noticing them. Side tip: Be careful when sleeping. You don’t want to scrunch your lashes. It can be so easy to forget they’re even there.

Beauty Benefits 3: They can look quite natural depending on the thickness and curl you get. Classics or hybrids tend to fill you lashes without making them too dramatic, whereas volumes will have your lashes looking so full there’s no mistaking them for being false.

Nuisance number 1: On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love coming home at the end of the day and washing your makeup off in the shower? It’s probably a small pleasure for all of us. Well I hate to break it to you ladies but, eeeekkk! With eyelash extensions, you can’t get them wet. Therefore, you have to wipe the makeup off around your eyes before you get in to the shower and struggle with the task of trying to keep them dry in the process of your shower. Not to mention it can be a bit of a pain to remove that eyeliner and plumb coloured shadow that was sitting right against your lash bed.

Nuisance number 2: Goodness it’s hard to support our beauty needs. Eyelash extensions need to be re-filled every two to three weeks, which definitely racks up those dollars. Not to mention the one to two hours it takes to get them done, depending on how much of a perfectionist your beauty therapist is. We can only hope you don’t get your nails, hair, eyebrows threaded, and waxing done regularly too, otherwise the bank balance of your savings account might start to look a little sad once you realise the amount of money you spend in a year on beauty.

Nuisance number 3: Do your research before you go. Some places use real mink or silk as an alternative. It’s unnecessary to use silk seeing as the synthetic ones look just as good. No animals need to be harmed in the process.

Beauty Benefit 1: Thank the heavens. These you can take off at the end of the day and rinse your face like you’ve been dreaming about. We all get to about 5 o’clock and begin to feel the oil build up underneath our makeup, or grow tired and feel like rubbing our eyes. With falsies you can feel completely fresh faced.

Beauty Benefit 2: Falsies are a lot more cost efficient and can be re-used up to five times if you take good care of them. They’re an absolute money saver long-term.

Beauty Benefit 3: These can be sold as individuals, halves, full sets, volumes, and more. You can choose a different kind for each makeup look to achieve a different look. They’re a lot more versatile than lash extensions in this aspect and can constantly be changed up.

The DRAB

Nuisance number 1: Let’s face it, false eyelashes are such a pain to put on. We’ve all stood in the mirror before cursing our falsies. Whether the corners won’t stick down or the strip doesn’t sit perfectly along your lash line, we’ve all struggled through it. Sometimes you even manage to stick your eyelids together in the process and still find old glue sitting on your lash beds three days after wearing them that seems impossible to properly remove.

Nuisance number 2: Falsies need to be re-applied every time you want to wear them. For some girls that’s everyday. Usually if it is an everyday ritual, you have managed to perfect the art of sticking on your lashes, but still, it takes a few extra minutes in the morning that could have been included in your beauty sleep.

Nuisance number 3: Let’s be honest, they never look real and you always know that they’re there. They feel rather heavy on your eyes or can be a little bit irritating. Though the fact that they look unnatural isn’t always a downfall. Some women like that bold look.

Lashes are a great way to achieve different looks and add some extra volume and length to really make your eyes pop. They are a wonderful little invention that are definitely worth experimenting with. Nothing about them is permanent, so testing them out shouldn’t be a problem. Caution though, once you start using them, they can be addictive.
